Carlo Ancelotti-led Real Madrid won the match against Atalanta with a slight margin. The Champions League match which took place at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday, December 10, at 3 p.m. ET, ended with Real Madrid – 3 and Atalanta – 2.
The game refereed by Polish referee Szymon Marciniak came to a quick start as #9 Kylian Mbappe scored in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, the former PSG star was forced out of the game with an injury in the 36th minute and was replaced by #11 Rodrygo.
#17 C. De Ketelaere scored an equalizer from the spot on the stroke of halftime. Atalanta was awarded a penalty after #14 A. Tchouameni clipped #8 Mario Pasalic’s ankles in the penalty area.
Soon after the start of the second half, #7 Vini Jr. gave his team the lead. Three minutes later, #5 Jude Bellingham made it 3 – 1. Atalanta got back in the game with a goal by #11 A. Lookman, but the game ended with neither team scoring more.
Mbappe Injury Update
Though the Spanish team won the match, they lost their ace Kylian Mbappe to an injury. Thankfully, the injury doesn’t seem serious.
During the post-match interview, Ancelotti revealed that Mbappe suffered from a hamstring issue and that it was not overly concerning.
At the moment, it’s unclear how many matches he would miss.
