Jose Trinidad Marin is known for being the ex-husband of American singer and songwriter, Jenni Rivera. The man is behind one of history’s most vicious and vile sexual abuse scandals.
Jose sexually abused his own daughters as well as his sister-in-law for several years, while still in a relationship with Jenni. Marin was sent to prison for 31 years for all the crimes he committed.
Jose Trinidad Marin’s Early Life
Jose Trinidad Marin who is also known as Trino Marin was born on February 15, 1964, in Mexico. He later moved to the USA with his parents.

Jose Trinidad Marin did several odd jobs before he met Jenni Rivera. He started working as a restaurant manager soon after starting his relationship with Rivera.
Jose and Jenni shared their vows in 1984. Jenni was 15 and Jose was 20 at the time.
After getting a stable job, Jose asked Jenni to leave college and stay at home with their children. However, Rivera had other plans. The situation escalated to physical violence and constant abuse. Soon after, in 1992, the duo parted ways.
Post-divorce, Trino moved to Riverside County to begin a new chapter in his life.
Father of Three
Jose Trinidad Marin is a father to three children. All of his kids are from his marriage to Jenni.
They welcomed their first child, daughter, Janney Marin Rivera AKA Chiquis Rivera on June 26, 1985, while Jenni was still in high school. She is currently working as a singer and TV personality.

After four years, on November 20, 1989, the pair welcomed their second child, Jacquelin Melina Marin AKA Jacqie Campos. She is married to Michael Campos and has four children.

Their third child, Michael Marin Rivera was born on September 11, 1991. Michael is a muralist and goes by the moniker, ‘Michelangelo’.

Abused Daughters and Sister-In-Law
Jose Trinidad Marin sexually exploited his daughter and sister-in-law, Rosie Rivera for several years. His assault and rape began with Jenni’s sister. But, he later started molesting his own daughters.

In 1997, several years after Jose and Jenni’s divorce, Rosie confessed about the man’s harassment. She claimed that she and their eldest daughter, Chiquis were molested by Marin. It was later discovered that he had molested his second daughter, Jacqie as well.
Soon after, Rivera lodged a complaint against Jose. In response, the judge ordered him to appear before the court, but he fled and became a fugitive. Despite all his efforts to disappear, he was finally apprehended by authorities in April 2006.
Sent to Jail for 31 Years
In 2007, Jose was sent to jail for around 31 years after he confessed about his sexual abuse. He is convicted of nine felonies including three counts of oral copulation of a child, three counts of lewd act upon a child, one count of continuous sexual assault, and one count of aggravated sexual assault.
After the sentencing, his eldest daughter, Chiquis, whom he had abused from the age of 8 to 12, said that she had forgiven him.

Good Relationship with Daughters
Though Jose Trinidad Marin did all those cruel things to his daughters, they are still on good terms with him. In Chiquis’ marriage with Lorenzo Mendez, Jose made a phone call from prison.
Chiquis recorded the conversation in her video as a part of her YouTube vlog.
In the video, we can see Jacqie, who was talking to their dad, come into Chiquis’ room and say, “Hi, Dad, I have your little girl here” and pass the phone to her.

Ex-Wife Jenni Died in a Plane Crash
On December 9, 2012, Jose Trinidad Marin lost his ex-wife in a plane crash near Monterrey, Mexico. Six other passengers including her died instantly.
The incident happened just minutes after the takeoff. However, the cause of the crash remains a mystery to date. She was in the city to perform, but the event ended tragically.
She was buried at the All Souls Cemetry in her hometown, Long Island.
