Early Life of Sandy Mahl
Sandy Mahl was born on January 15, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the same hospital as her ex-husband who was born three years prior. She was born to John and Pat Mahl. She grew up with her sister, Debbie Mahl Holden.
Mahl was a cheerleader during her school days. She was also a part of the track team and played basketball as well.
Marriage with Garth Brooks
Sandy Mahl and Garth Brooks tied the knot on May 24, 1986.
They first met at the Tumbleweed Ballroom bar in Stillwater, Oklahoma where Garth was a bouncer. Sandy was in the middle of a fight and Garth was trying to stop the chaos. However, in Mahl’s version of the story, she and her partner met on the dance floor. Anyhow, they started dating soon after.
Both of them were students at Oklahoma State University and lived in neighboring dorms. Their first date was just walking around the college.
Divorce in 2001
Sandy Mahl and Garth Brooks went separate ways in December 2001. Their divorce was due to Garth’s busy career.
Mahl received $125 million during their divorce settlement.

Mother of Three
Sandy and her former partner have three kids together.
They welcomed their first daughter, Taylor Mayne Pearl Brooks was born on July 8, 1992, by natural birth at Nashville Baptist Hospital. She was named after the singer, James Taylor, and comedian, Minnie Pearl. She did her post-graduate in Theology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
Garth and Sandy welcomed their second child, August Anna Brooks on May 3, 1994. She is dating her lesbian partner at the moment. However, she was married to Chance Michael Russell previously. She has two kids with her former spouse, Karalynn Grace, and Gwendolyn Russell.
Their youngest child, Allie Colleen Brooks Roberts was born on July 28, 1996. She completed her songwriting and music business degree from Belmont University. She has been married to Jonathan Roberts since November 2018.

Sandy’s Career
Sandy Mahl was a credited songwriter. She has written a couple of songs for her former partner.
She wrote her first song, I’ve Got a Good Thing Going in 1989. Three years later, she wrote, That Summer, which ranked #1 on the Billboard Country Charts in 1993.
After her divorce, Sandy got into wildlife rehabilitation. She has since co-founded Wild Heart Ranch in Rogers County, Oklahoma alongside Annette King Tucker.

Kidnapped at Gunpoint
In 2006, the same year she was diagnosed with breast cancer, a man working on her Oklahoma property kidnapped her at gunpoint to evade a bail bondsman.
Sandy was forced to drive for several miles. When the car stopped, she fled unscathed into a convenience store. The man was later arrested.
