Though Eddie is a baptized Catholic, his daughter, Zola follows Ifa, a Yoruba religion.
Zola Ivy Murphy’s Early Life
Zola Ivy Murphy was born on December 24, 1999, in Los Angeles, California, United States. She was born to Eddie and his ex-wife, Nicole Mitchell Murphy.
She has four siblings, Bria, Miles, Shayne Audra, and Bella Zahra Murphy. Zola also has five step-siblings, Eric, Christian, Angel Iris, Izzy Oona, and Max Charles Murphy.
She had a comedian uncle, Charlie Murphy, who died of leukemia in 2017.
Unsuccessful Relationship of Her Parents
Zola’s father, Eddie, and mother, Nicole, tied the knot on March 18, 1993, at the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel in New York.
They first met at the NAACP Image Awards in 1988 and started dating soon after. They broke up briefly in 1990, but three years later, the couple got married.
Nicole and Eddie were together for 12 years. They separated in August 2005 citing irreconcilable differences. They finalized their divorce on April 17, 2006.
Parents’ Other Relationships
Zola’s dad started dating Spice Girls singer, Melanie B soon after his divorce. They welcomed their daughter, Iris Murphy on April 3, 2007. Eddie and Mel broke up within a year.
Murphy is currently engaged to Australian model and actor, Paige Butcher. The duo started dating in 2012 and engaged in September 2018. They are parents to Izzy Oona, born in May 2016, and Max Charles, born in November 2018.
Meanwhile, Zola’s mom got engaged to the former NY Giants defensive end, Michael Strahan in 2009 after two years of dating. Unfortunately, they broke up five years later in 2014.
In 2019, Nicole created controversy for kissing Antoine Fuqua. She released two statements, one saying it was a friendly kiss and the other apologizing to Fuqua’s wife, Lela Rochon-Fuqua.
Up-and-Coming Model
Zola Ivy Murphy is currently an up-and-coming model. She models for a Chinese brand, Global Intuition, which was inspired by “social media, everyday life, digital philosophy, and quotes.” In 2019, Zola represented the line’s Coachella theme.
P.S. Zola has been interested in Criminology since the age of 12. She says she expresses her feelings, and intuition from writing. Recently, she took to her Instagram saying, “Struggling rappers lemme ghostwrite for you.” Does this mean, she will become a songwriter in the near future?
